Thieves Soft Scrub DIY for Sinks, Toilets, Showers, and Dirty Dishes

One of the struggles since switching to natural cleaners was finding a solution to effectively clean hard water stains on my toilets, shower, and sinks.  After several "trial and error" I found a DIY that WORKS!!  I re-purpose my empty Thieves Dish Soap bottles for this recipe.

Recipe for tub, toilet, sinks and even dirty dishes!

1/2 cup Baking Soda
4 tbsp Unscented Baby Mild Castile Soap
1 tbsp Thieves Household Cleaner
10 drops lemon essential oil
1/2 cup to 1 cup water (depending if you want more of a paste or liquid)

Add to an 8oz to 12oz container of choice.   I reuse my empty Thieves Dish Soap bottles (12oz), because the squirt top offers easy application when cleaning.

Step 1:

Depending on whether you want more of a liquid mixture or more of a thicker consistency, add the baking soda- 1/2 cup (recommended for 8oz bottles) to 3/4 cup (recommended for 8oz if you want thick paste; otherwise recommended for 10oz - 12oz) to your container.

I like mine more of a liquid consistency, so I added 1/2 cup to each 2oz bottle.  Sometimes I add more baking soda when I really need to scrub (like a super dirty bathtub).

I use a funnel and a chopstick to get the baking soda inside the bottle.

Step 2:

Add 4 tbsp of Castile Soap.  I use this brand-Dr. Woods Baby Mild Castile Soap  I don't really measure, I dump it in and visually look at it to see if I put the right ratio to baking soda into the container.  Here's a good picture of the ratio of Castile soap to baking soda.

Step 3:

Add 1 tbsp of Thieves Household Cleaner.  Use the amount of cleaner needed for the job, depending on the severity of the grime.

Step 4:

Add 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (or use the oil you prefer that is effective for cleaning such as: Pine, Blue or Black Spruce, Orange, Thieves, Lemongrass).

Finally, top the bottle with water but leave a little space at the top- like shown in the photo.  You'll need this space for mixing the ingredients together.

Step 5:

Put on squirt top, and either shake gently, or flip bottle back and forth to mix, or stir until mixed and apply to dirty area.

Finally- Add a slightly generous amount to the area to be cleaned and lightly scrub.  Enjoy that sparkle!  Here is a true before and after of my dirty, grimy tub- in the BEFORE photo, there is a thick layer of soap scum, and hard water deposit.  I squirted a small amount on this area, and lightly rubbed (no kidding - with one finger) and the results are shown in the AFTER photo!

**Please note-the baking soda will settle to the bottom of the container when not in use, so please re-mix by giving it a gentle shake before each use!
