Heart Health

With February always being associated with love and hearts, I thought it was only appropriate that I talk about heart health. There is so much to cover, and unfortunately, most medical professionals don't educate patients about proactive lifestyle changes. It's always better to prepare instead of reacting!

First, here are the basics about the cardiovascular system:

Eating healthy, moving your body, and balancing emotions all help keep your heart in the best shape possible. Sometimes, frequencies and energy in our bodies become blocked. Want to learn more about this? The book The Emotion Code was super helpful! If left untreated, emotional blockages can lead to physical problems.

The Heart chakra is an energy center in the chest responsible for unconditional love and emotional power. The most powerful emotion with highest frequency is LOVE. Balancing emotions is vital for your well-being. Learn more by watching the video below:

There are so many ways to naturally support the body. Here are just a few: herbs, spices, and essential oils. I love to use essential oils because they are so easy to incorporate into a busy day and they have multiple uses. Applying them to your body may help you with some emotions, and double as a perfume. Putting a couple drops in your diffuser helps scent your home, but could also help with that toddler meltdown happening in the living room.

Here are some essential oils that can help you process certain emotions:

Acceptance: Hyssop, Goldenrod, Helichrysum, Jasmine, Lavender, Myrtle, Rose

Change: Cypress, Geranium, Manuka

Compassion: Lavender, Rose, Goldenrod, Neroli, Marjoram, Geranium, Manuka

Emotional release: Ylang Ylang, bergamot, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Jasmine, Melissa

Forgiveness: Jasmine, Myrtle, Helichrysum, Melissa

Generosity: Cinnamon Bark, Marjoram

Gratitude: Cistus, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Cypress, Goldenrod, Geranium

Grief and letting go: Cypress, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Geranium

Harmony and balance: Bergamot, Geranium, Hyssop, Jasmine, Cistus, Lavender, Marjoram, Myrtle

Integrity: Marjoram, Hyssop

Kindness: Marjoram, Palmarosa, Geranium, Lavender

Love: Rose, Neroli, Geranium, Palmarosa, Jasmine, Helichrysum, Myrtle, Melissa

Peace: Cypress, Geranium, Helichrysum, Cistus, Melissa, Neroli, Ylang Ylang

Regeneration: Neroli, Geranium, Manuka, Rose, Lavender

Understanding and awareness: Geranium, Palmarosa, Helichrysum, Cypress, Hyssop, Jasmine, Cistus, Lavender, Neroli

Emotional balance on your radar? Me too! Here's a list of some great oils to help your body with all the feels.

You know that I have even more essential oil info to share! Here are a few more oils I love specifically for the heart and how they may help your body:

  • Lemon: relieves stress and depression, can even lower blood pressure
  • Lavender: calming, can reduce heart rate
  • Frankincense: can reduce stress and regulate heart
  • Aroma Life: apply to heart and Vita Flex points (bottoms of feet)
  • Ylang Ylang: can balance heart function and lowers stress hormone
  • Cypress: great for circulation

Apply these essential oils to the back of neck, temples, behind ears, on bottoms of feet

Lifestyle choices are key in all areas of health. There is no magic pill that you can take to make you healthy. *Sigh* You have to do all.the.things. Supporting the heart naturally is easy, but does take some intentionality. It is so much easier to sit and relax on the couch after a long day of chasing after the kids, fixing dinner, and doing what feels like the 30th load of laundry. But, simple movement helps remind the body that you are still awake, and to not start going into sleeping mode just yet. That dinner does have to digest after all.
