As women, we usually juggle many things. I believe that God wired our brains differently for this very reason. Unfortunately, what often happens is that we forget to take care of ourselves and let simple and necessary things slip, like showering, going to the doctor, taking some "me time," and more. There has to be a balance!
There are four parts of health: mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical.
- Physical
Getting enough rest is something that I struggle with because once the kids get put to bed, that is my time to finish daily tasks, run our businesses, and do whatever I want to do. Sleep is vital for health, though, so it needs to be a priority.
Having a proper diet means eating fresh produce, in a variety of colors, healthy fats like avocados, dark chocolate, and having smaller portions throughout the day if possible. It's always a great goal to buy food directly from the farmer, or organic.
Exercise is also key for health. We should all have some type of movement at least every hour. Set an alarm on your phone if you have to! If you work sitting down, just standing up and walking to get a drink of water is beneficial.
- Emotional
Do something just for you! Read a book, take a bubble bath, polish nails, call a friend. It is important that you have a support group of a few people who you can be vulnerable and do life with. I call these select people my "2am friends" - the ones I would pick up the phone and call at 2am if I needed something. Check out this video for more on emotions and self care.
I love using essential oils for skin because toxins are released through skin. *Add any of the essential oils below to your current skincare regimen.*
Frankincense essential oil improves elasticity, helps lift skin, prevents wrinkles, and can fade scars & stretch marks.
Tea Tree essential oil soothes dry, itchy skin, may help with infections, cuts & wounds. It is helpful with hair, scalp, and acne.
Geranium essential oil soothes dry skin, helps diminish wrinkles, and inhibits inflammatory responses in skin.
- Spiritual
Feed your soul! Whatever that looks like for you. Maybe it's quiet time, prayer, or meditation. Connecting with God, learning more about His Word, and applying that knowledge in your life opens the floodgates for many blessings.
- Mental
Challenge yourself! Learn a new skill, create something, do a puzzle. The brain is always working, and learning new things keeps it evolving. It may even improve memory. As we age, it becomes even more important to keep our brains active. Learning new things also helps us fight boredom and can help with imagination. Here's a video on mental health and depression:
Hormones (part of the endocrine system) are chemical messengers that travel throughout the body coordinating processes like growth, metabolism, and fertility. Many household and personal care products have ingredients which are known endocrine disruptors! Endocrine disruptors send a false signal or block the action of a natural hormone. Everything in the body (and life!) is a balance. When a woman's progesterone and estrogen levels are not correct, it can affect how her body develops and functions.
To learn more about toxins, watch this video.
Young Living has a special blend created specifically for women called Progessence Plus. It promotes feelings of relaxation, harmony and balance. It's a great support for female hormones (Dr. Dan Purser on FaceBook believes every woman should be using this except those who are pregnant). *CA law requires cancer labeling on ANY hormone product, natural & synthetic*
