Sometimes it makes me sad to see how far removed society has become from the original roots of “medicine”.

I always find it interesting when people refer to plant medicine as being “snake oil” or “voodoo” medicine. Ummm... where do you think modern medicine came from??? 🤔
🌱 Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) was discovered from the willow tree, the bark of which was used in traditional herbal remedies.
🌱 The Pacific yew tree (Taxus brevifolia) was found to produce the blockbuster anticancer drug paclitaxel.
🌱 The primary source of morphine is isolation from poppy straw of the opium poppy.
The list is long and wide. Nature was already providing us with powerful therapeutic compounds long before man discovered how to synthetically copy them.
