Vet Diagnosed Horse With West Nile Virus

On Wednesday, September 19, my husband called me at my office about 11 am and said he had gone to get DR for his herd work and he could not get up. DR is our 3 year old cutting horse and the delight of Mike's eye. They are fond of each other.

He was very upset and I asked him where he was. He told me he was in the pasture with DR and he COULD NOT get him up. At that time he told me he knew DR had West Nile, since we had been treating him per the vet for EPM/WN and over night he was down.

I told him to stay with DR and that I was on my way home. I would stop at the house and get the NingXia Red juice and the oils. I knew DR would need energy and strength that NingXia Red would give him and oil administered would relieve his discomfort immediately.

After quickly searching on Oil-Testimonials.com, and reading Dr. Melissa Shelton's brand new animal essential oils desk reference, I realized I already had almost all the oils I needed. Here's what we did:

* We slowly drenched him with about 120cc of NingXia Red. It was cold, right out of the ice box and he loved it. By the time that was down him, he was able to get up.

* We drew about 3 cc of blood to take to the vet to send off for further testing.

* Then I mixed the following oils in a 6 cc syringe and we drenched him with 6 drops each of the following: Lemon, Frankincense, Thyme, Oregano and 12 drops each of Peppermint, the PanAway oil blend, 4 or 5 drops of the Valor oil blend was put on his poll. (Highest point on top of a horses head)

During all this time DR is sorta stumbling around us in a circle and we are walking with him drawing blood and administering the oils. He cannot stand. His back legs are crossed with each step and if he slows down he begins to GO down.

We got a bucket of fresh water and held it for him to drink. By this time he is exhausted and laying back down. We leave the water where he is and a small amount of feed.

I left the pasture, went to the house and asked Young Living to overnight me the DiGize and ImmuPower oil blends. Those were the 2 oils I did not have. Then to the vet clinic to drop off the blood on my way to hand bell practice.

My husband kept an eye on DR who was down all afternoon, unable to get up when he tried. I called a friend who I knew had over ordered NingXia Red and I asked if I could buy her surplus. She said yes and delivered me 6 bottles Thursday morning.

Wednesday night we repeated the oil recipe and the NingXia Red. DR still could not get up and was not interested in food at this time, but we did get him to drink a little more water.

We continued to check for dehydration. He had enough sense even in his condition to stay in the shade of the trees where he is protected from the 100+ temperature. Did I tell you we live in South Texas?

Thursday morning DR could get up but his hind legs were still completely crossed and he had to keep moving to stand up, but had no control of where he went unless we had hold of the lead rope for guidance and support.

On Thursday morning, since he had accepted everything so well twice on Wednesday, I doubled everything on Thursday and he got all the oils both morning and night again on Thursday and Friday. He was now given as much NingXia Red as he will drink.

As soon as the DiGize and ImmuPower arrived they were added to the recipe, 6 drops of each. By Friday DR is hungry and eating grain we place in front of him. When the lab results did not come back to him on Friday, the vet suggested we boost his blood count (that's what the NingXia Red and the oils were doing, but we were willing to boost as much as we could) so we gave DR 10cc of a blood builder on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday, since I was home all day, I decided to give him a Raindrop treatment both morning and evening with the oils given orally on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, added to the Raindrop. This was done again twice on Sunday, before church that morning, and again in the cool of the evening.

As much NingXia Red as he would drink was given both morning and evening Saturday and Sunday. He now wants food on a regular basis. We tried to increase his protein with alfalfa hay, but he preferred the pasture not the hay.

Monday we went back to oral oils twice a day, same doubled dose and NingXia Red. Still no test results so no additional recommendations from the vet. Tuesday the same. DR is getting better each day.

A few "bed sores" from having to work so hard to get up, but now meets us at the gate for food in his feeder, not down in the trees. Bed Sores are now being kept clean and treated with the PanAway oil blend and Animal Scents Ointment but are the LEAST of our concerns.

Wednesday, Sept. 26 was one week. We decided that morning since he is doing so well to try the oils only once a day. NingXia Red is still twice a day, but poured in his feed since he is eating so well. Test results came to the vet late Wednesday afternoon confirming the diagnosis of West Nile.

I'm glad I knew about Young Living Essential Oils the week before, because he would have been dead by Saturday if we had not started him on them on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning we decided to give both the NingXia Red and the oils in his feed. The oils are still at the doubled amount and only in the morning. We plan on continuing this until next Wednesday, Oct. 3, which will be 2 weeks.

At that time my husband will decide if he is strong enough to exercise him on long lines, but today, Friday, September 29th he actually loped in the pasture and had great control and balance.

We could not be more blessed. Our friends have had us in their prayers and the Lord is continuing to answer them positively. God has blessed us so much in our endeavors with horses these last 45 years and we only wish we'd known about Young Living essential oils earlier.

If you are not familiar with NingXia Red, it is wonderful. We both drink it every morning, and I drink it twice a day. It is a powerful antioxidant supplement drink made from wolf berry juice, blueberry, pomegranate, apricot, and raspberry juices, Lemon and Orange essential oils. It supports immune function, liver function, and eye health and is reported to increase energy.

It is the highest known protection against the dangerous superoxide free radicals, as documented in the S-ORAC test conducted by Brunswick Laboratories. It is rich in ellagic acid, polyphenols, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals. In addition, it has 18 amino acids, 21 trace minerals, beta-carotene, and vitamins B1,B2, B6 and E.

It is an excellent whole-food source of nutrients that gives energy and strength to the body without harmful stimulants. It also has an amazing low glycemic index of 11 that does not spike the blood sugar levels.
