We live in a more toxic society than ever before.
Children are often exposed to harmful chemicals every day, so there are many benefits of a wellness lifestyle. Children are also developing at a rapid rate, so they tend to be affected by things even more than adults. Good things like being in nature, moving, and eating a balanced diet help their development. Not-so-good things like toxins, pollution, and lack of social skills can hinder their development.
I want to help you know how to use essential oils in the best possible way during the school year! Whether you have a child or children heading back to school this year or if you are homeschooling, we all can use cognitive support, emotional support, easier bedtimes, and better attendance rates!

This time of year is always challenging, but with the weight and effects of 2020, even years later, many are facing additional stresses and challenges this fall. Some challenges may be new and exciting, like spending more time together as a family, and others like guiding children through online learning, may feel overwhelming. Our hope is that with some extra support from loved ones, prayer and the use of toxin-free products, we can all make the best of our current situation.

We have been using essential oils and oily products for several years now and find them extremely helpful for emotional support, mental clarity and mood-boosting, to name a few. My team hosted a Zoom call on Back to School tips and products. Check it out below.
Here are some diffuser recipes I found online. We love Calm Class & Perfect Attendance!

Essential oils are the most beneficial part of the plant that have been used for centuries.

Lavender – with an earthy, relaxing aroma, Lavender calms and soothes. What kid do you know who can’t use a little calming and soothing from time to time?! Lavender also balances the emotions and improves concentration.
Peppermint – Can also aid with recall when used both during study and testing. Peppermint has a crisp, sharp aroma that can help with alertness when your student is no longer in kindergarten and has no nap mat. HAHA!
Thieves – Young Living has built an entire line of products featuring this amazing essential oil blend (cinnamon bark, clove, lemon, rosemary, eucalyptus radiata). Thieves is a powerhouse for stimulating immune response. Who couldn’t use that with sticky fingers and runny noses all around? Also, it smells like the holidays which is just an added bonus!
Lemon – with a bright, stimulating and invigorating scent, Lemon is very energizing. It can support mental focus, clarity of thought and alertness. It is also rich in limonene which is an important constituent that stimulates the immune system and may increase white blood cell production.
Vetiver – is a stabilizing and grounding essential oil. Use Vetiver to calm when anxious or timid. It helps when coping with stress and emotional drama. Think “chill pill” when a student is struggling emotionally.
Oregano - This oil has a strong, pungent aroma that creates a sense of security. It is also a strong stimulant to the immune and respiratory systems. The broad spectrum of wellness support this oil offers makes it a necessary addition to your oily arsenal for school.
Cedarwood – Cedarwood supports healthy skin and stimulates the limbic part of the brain which houses the emotions. It is well known for its calming and purifying properties. With its fresh, woodsy aroma Cedarwood is a favorite for diffusing and aids in restful sleep when diffused at night.
Here's a list with all of these oils and some others that are my fav for supporting kids (and parents!) during back to school season.

Focus Time Roll-On - This roller is fabulous to apply during homework times, study hall, test etc. It could also be called a Sweet Sleep roll-on, so just keep that in your back pocket for a time of need. *Wink

1 drop Cedarwood oil
1 5ml roller bottle
Carrier oil

Perfect Attendance Roll-On - the name says it all.
We are not experts. You don’t need to be an expert to make better choices for your health and wellness. It just takes some research, trial and error. There are many wonderful reference guides, books and resources available explaining how to use essential oils.
Your "personal" days are limited and needing a substitute teacher or a sitter is not ideal. In addition to your daily dose of NingXia Red, I also recommend making a wellness roll-on and using it every day before and after the school day.
3 drops Thieves
2 drops Lemon
1 drop Oregano
Put the above in a 5ml glass roller and top it off with a carrier oil. Apply to the bottom of your feet before leaving for school in the morning.
BONUS TIP: Your empty essential oil bottles from Young Living can be reused. Purchase a 10 pack of YL roller fitments. Use a fitment on your recycled YL bottle for an easy roll-on.
