General Household Cleaning

Thieves Cleaner is our go-to daily cleaning product.  In our house, we’ve kicked to the curb all the harsh toxin-loaded cleaners we used to use and replaced them all with this one product!  Just add one cap full of Thieves Cleaner to a 16oz Glass Spray Bottle of water and spray any surface for an amazing cleaning job that smells fresh and clean!  

This blog will include SEVERAL DIY recipes that you can use your Thieves Cleaner with if you choose.  Enjoy taking this test drive!

Carpet Freshener

This recipe actually doesn’t need the Household cleaner.  Just Baking Soda & a few drops of Purification Essential Oil which is included in the Thieves Home Cleaning Kit.  

NOTE:  You can use any other essential oil of your preference.

Carpet Spot Cleaner

Note the water/Thieves Cleaner ratio.  It might make it easier to mix in a measuring cup and then pour into your Glass Spray Bottle.  Be sure to label your spray bottles so that you’ll remember which cleaner you’re using.

Deep Cleaning Scrub

This is the perfect recipe for those tough stains:  coffee in the sink, soap scum in the tub or shower doors, or hard water stains in toilets, etc.  If you’d prefer, Young Living also has a premade Deep Cleaning Scrub (Thieves Kitchen & Bath Scrub).  

Glass Cleaner

This is another recipe you’ll want to mix in a large measuring cup and pour into your Glass Spray Bottle.  Your glasses and mirrors will thank you for this one.  

NOTE:  The water/Thieves Cleaner ratio for this recipe.  TOO much Thieves Cleaner will leave streaks.  

Heavy Degreaser

This recipe will work great for a one-time use because of the Hot Water.  Or, you might want to try this recipe that I’ve tested and love the way it works.  

In an 8oz Glass Spray Bottle filled 3/4 full of distilled water, add:

• 1 Tablespoon (about 1 capful) Thieves Cleaner
• 2 Tablespoons Thieves Dish Soap
• 10 drops Lemon
• 10 drops Orange
• top off with Distilled Water

NOTE:  To keep the suds from overflowing, add as much water as you can BEFORE adding the remaining ingredients—just be sure to leave enough room at the top to add the remaining ingredients.

Ingredients to Avoid

This is the most important graphic of all.  If you find any of these ingredients in the cleaning products that you’re currently using, I’d suggest you trash them asap.  Do your research.  Google the possible side effects of using these ingredients to see what they might cause.  You might find an issue you’re having and have not made the connection as to WHY.

NOTE:  Currently the FDA does not regulate these products.  AND…, regarding “Fragrance”, companies can lump all kinds of ingredients in their products under the name “Fragrance” and they do not have to disclose what those products are.

Risks from Harsh Ingredients

Are you experiencing any of these issues?  They could be caused by the products you’re using, whether your household cleaning products, your laundry products, or your personal care products.  Again, do your research!

Thieves Multipurpose Wipes

These Thieves Multipurpose Wipes are amazing, and the best part is Young Living did all the work!  You can purchase a kit that includes the dispenser and wipes to get you started, then you can purchase the wipes and/or dispenser individually.  

OR…, If you’d prefer to make your own, here is a DIY recipe for you:

Ingredients:

• 1 roll of Paper Towels (cut in half with a serrated knife
• 1/2 cups Distilled Water (add a little more if needed)
• 2 caps of Thieves Cleaner
• 3 drops of Thieves Essential Oil
• 3 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil

Instructions:

• Mix distilled water, Thieves Cleaner, Thieves, and Tea Tree EO in a large measuring cup.
• Place Paper Towels in an air-tight container large enough to hold the size paper towels you have (preferably with a dispenser lid)
• Pour the mixture over the paper towels
• Put lid on, turn upside down, and let them sit for 15 minutes or so
• Open the lid and remove the center cardboard core (so that the center paper towel of the roll comes up)
• If needed you can add a little more water
• Use as desired to wipe EVERTHING super clean! 

Stove Scrub

The Thieves Dish Soap does not come with the Home Cleaning Kit, but it is another one to add to your cleaning supplies and useful in this DIY.

Toilet Scrub

Again, the Thieves Dish Soap does not come with the Home Cleaning Kit, and neither does the Eucalyptus Radiata, but they are both good to add to your supplies and useful in this DIY.

Wood Floor Polish

Use your Olive Oil to make this amazing DIY for your wood floors!
