If you're hesitant to introduce slime to your household, I'm here to tell you it will be okay!

Set some play area boundaries, maybe dedicate an apron to the slime creations, and watch the magic unfold. If you're an adult with no children in the house and never made slime before, give this a try! You may already have the items needed at home. 

The great news is homemade slime washes out of clothing easily. When mixed and activated thoroughly, it won't stick to hands or the table - and even the bowl comes completely clean.

Since this is an essential oil slime DIY, consider adding any KidScents Essential Oil Blend to the slime for scent, but also for a purpose. Slime makes a great fidget toy and keeps the kids occupied for hours. Depending on which essential oils you choose, you can help your little one create a slime to promote relaxation, concentration, feelings of confidence, or whatever aroma makes their little heart happy. 

Although this particular recipe is from Young Living, there is no problem switching out food dye for natural alternatives or powder pigments of your choosing. Washable paint and sidewalk chalk powder work great to add some color.

Pro Tip: You can add shaving cream to make extra fluffy slime and I recommend trying it out. 

DIRECTIONS:

1. Add ½ cup of glue to a mixing bowl.

2. Add your choice of optional coloring or glitter now if you're working with them.

3. Mix in ½ tsp baking soda until smooth. Just a pinch is enough. This will create fun, poppable air bubbles and build structure inside the slime.

Pro Tip: This is when you'll add shaving cream if you want a rather fluffy slime. Add the same amount as the glue, or a little less. You can also add a few drops of Essential Oils directly to the mixture now, but I have another way given below.

4. Start by adding about 1 tablespoon of contact solution and mix. This begins to activate the slime! The glue mixture will start to become stringy as it hardens to slowly form a ball. Mix it well, then add a little more contact solution. Mix that again, and add another tablespoon of contact solution. Continue this until your slime is no longer liquidy and soft. Adding too much at once will over-activate your slime and it will feel rubbery or hard. 

5. If needed, pick up the mixture and knead it with your hands against the table until it becomes smooth. Don't worry, it will work! If it is still sticking to your hands, continue adding contact solution until it is smooth and no longer sticking to you. 

6. Add 1-4 drops of Essential Oil to your hands and mix with the slime until it's combined.

7. Get playing! Set out a baking sheet for a slime boundary or parchment paper to keep things from getting too messy if needed. Remember, this is basically just glue and it will wash off of nearly anything with some hot water.
