Spring is Here!

Spring is in the air, and it’s the perfect time to refresh your routine!

As the seasons shift, it’s a great time to reach for favorite oils that help you feel clear, energized, and ready to soak up all the goodness this time of year brings.

CLEANING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

It's well known that there are countless ways to appreciate and benefit from various essential oils. Nothing is quite as satisfying as caring for your family's living spaces with natural products when you actually feel safe and confident bringing them into your home.

Let's dive into the many ways to use essential oils for your Spring Cleaning!

1.  DISHWASHER

• Notice the dishwasher has a lingering funky odor? After you clean the bottom filter of any solid food debris, try this dishwasher refresh trick:
  • Combine 3 drops of Jade Lemon™ Essential Oil Blend with half a capful of Thieves™ Household Cleaner and 1 cup of white vinegar. Place it in a glass bowl at the bottom of your dishwasher. Run the regular cycle on empty and without detergent. Enjoy the results! The funky smells should be long gone, and the interior will shine again.

2.  STOVE TOP

• Gloss up the stove in a flash!
  • Add a few drops of Thieves Essential Oil Blend to one cup of water and you've just created an all-purpose cleaner that packs a punch. Revel in the clean, spicy scent as you easily wipe away stuck-on stovetop messes. This works really well on burnt drip pans, stovetop crevices, and super sticky grease residue that won't seem to budge.

3.  PESKY ODORS

• Outwit pesky odors, the natural way.
  • Add a few drops of Citrus Fresh Essential Oil Blend to a cotton ball and tuck it into problem areas like the stuffy linen cabinet, bottom of a trash can, stinky gym bag, or stuffy closets for a spring-approved aroma that lasts. This cotton-ball method works wonders with all your favorite essential oils, but Citrus Fresh is highly appreciated for its clean, crisp, and universally friendly aroma.

4.  WHOLE ROOM ODOR-BANISHING

• The quick whole-room odor-banishing act:
  • Put a drop of Peppermint Essential Oil on a damp washcloth as you wipe down all the kitchen or bathroom countertops. This is especially useful after cooking strong-smelling foods or even tending to wet dogs. The invigorating Peppermint aroma cleanses the air space, and I enjoy the subtle lingering aroma while I'm cleaning. I don't find that it remains as potent Peppermint or overpowers my home. Instead, the space just feels incredibly fresh, and the undesired odors are no longer the main attraction. 

5.  FIXTURES, FAUCETS, METALLIC DECOR

• Luxury polish and luxury aroma duo:
  • Try adding a drop of Bergamot Essential Oil on a microfiber cloth for a glowing finish on fixtures, faucets, and metallic decor. Don't forget the cabinet hardware and dusty light fixtures - taking care in those finer details will really make a home shine. Surfaces receive a like-new sheen while giving the room a sophisticated, sweet aroma as you polish away.

6.  STAINLESS STEEL, 

• An essential oil with endless reasons to love it: Lemon!
  • It's an efficient polish for stainless steel, so use it on those refrigerator doors, the microwave where fingerprints tend to accumulate, and the front of the dishwasher where water drops can be unsightly. Use it straight from the bottle on a dry cloth and buff into stainless steel surfaces to polish. A little goes a long way, and the bright aroma of lemon gives the space that juicy, craveable "freshly cleaned" aroma.

7.  INSECTS

• Did you know Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is highly avoided by many pesky insects?
  • Try spritzing it (from a glass spray bottle) across exterior thresholds, window sills, and screendoors. For extra strength, add some Peppermint. This is handy to keep nearby year-round for all things that creep, crawl, and fly their way indoors. The strong aroma of Peppermint and Cinnamon is off-putting to most outdoor pests, causing them to hightail it the other way. Luckily, these two potent essential oils offer an invigorating aroma, welcomed by us.

8. DIY SPRITZ FOR LINENS, SOFA PILLOWS, AREA RUGS, CURTAINS, PATIO CHAIR CUSHIONS

• Combine 10 drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil with 6 ounces of water, 2 ounces of witch hazel, and 9 drops of Lemon in a glass spray bottle for a linen spray that offers an energizing boost for sofa pillows, area rugs, curtains, and even those patio chair cushions that are finally unpacked again after winter. There's no limit on ways to use a DIY spritz you love, and I encourage you to customize the essential oils to fit your needs and preferences.
