Tis the season for hand sanitizers, box upon box of tissues and sick-days.
Typically I stock up on my Thieves hand sanitizer. I have the minis in my bag, on my desk and in the car. I bought two of the large 7 OZ. ones for work.
When I blow my nose I follow up with a bit of Thieves sanitizer because the ickies stop with me!
And boy, am I glad I had stocked up because now, everywhere you look sanitizers are OUT OF STOCK!
What’s a sneezy "achooo!" person to do?
Don’t fret. Just make your own.
You’ll notice a soft feel as well as the wonderful cinnamon and spice aroma when used. It smells delicious!
Buy hey-don’t eat it!
What You’ll Need
- ⅓ cup pure witch hazel
- ⅔ cup 100% pure aloe vera gel
- 15 drops Thieves essential oil blend or Five Oil Blend (5 drops of Clove Essential Oil, 4 drops of Lemon Essential Oil, 3 drops of Cinnamon Essential Oil, 2 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil, 1 drop of Rosemary Essential Oil)
- 1 capsule of Vitamin E oil – a natural preservative
- 2 TB rubbing alcohol – this is what makes the hand sanitizer extra strength but optional
- A 4 oz pump bottle
- A funnel - clean and wiped down with rubbing alcohol
- A glass bowl - clean and wiped down with rubbing alcohol
- A small spatula - clean and wiped down with rubbing alcohol
- I always wear disposable gloves when make essential oil items
Directions
- Add the aloe gel, witch hazel, vitamin E oil and rubbing alcohol to a glass bowl and use the spatula to mix thoroughly.
- Next, add the Thieves or the Five oil Blend and mix them in well.
- Use the funnel to siphon the final mixture into the 4 oz pump bottle
- Close, securing top and label for use!
- Shake well before use
To Use
Simply apply a small pump of homemade Thieves hand sanitizer into your palm and spread it evenly over your hands until completely absorbed, being sure to do so after a sneeze (hopefully into a tissue or your sleeve) and after you blow your nose. This prevents the ickies from possibly spreading to your eyes, mouth or surfaces.
When you have guests over, you can keep the bottle in a visible place for anyone who wishes to stave off any extra ickies during their visit.
The hand sanitizer smells so good that once your guests try it they will share it will other friends and family members which helps lessen the number of ickies being spread.*
