Clean your skin naturally using this easy DIY recipe.
Hey, it's Christina here @ clovesandcitrus.com and I want to share a TRUE story with you:

Once upon a time, I used a department store make up remover each night. Let me emphasize- a makeup remover that contained ingredients I can’t even pronounce (disodium co-coamphodiacetate, phenoxyethanol, etc..).  Makeup remover was yet another item I had to think about adding to my long list of beauty care products that needed to be purchased on a regular basis.

Fast forward to two+ years ago- after learning about the detrimental effects of chemicals on our bodies, I decided a natural, toxic-free solution to remove makeup was paramount. That’s when I discovered the amazing properties of using jojoba oil for this purpose!

Jojoba oil is produced from the seeds from the Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) plant, a shrub, which is native to the southern United States and northwestern Mexico.

Not only is jojoba oil an effective makeup remover, but it also serves as my skin cleanser and moisturizer.  In fact, I no longer have to purchase multiple products to cleanse my skin, remove makeup, and moisturize my skin- jojoba oil does all 3!  This saves space in my bathroom and wallet!  Plus, it's fewer products I have to think about buying- win-win!

Another benefit of using jojoba oil for these purposes is only a few drops is needed for each application, so a bottle of jojoba lasts much longer than the over the counter products I used to purchase. I also love that I can easily add essential oils into my bottle of Leven Rose Jojoba oil to make my own skin serum which lasts for weeks! Adding essential oils to the jojoba oil is beneficial for their skin-nourishing properties and they aid in improving my skin's overall appearance. Jojoba oil cleans deep into pores and helps remove dirt and oil without stripping away our skin's natural sebum.
Here’s my Skin Serum Recipe which I use to remove makeup, shave my legs, cleanse and moisturize my face, and use as an all-over body moisturizer- one bottle offering many beneficial uses!

Add the following essential oils directly into Leven Rose's 4 oz bottle Jojoba oil or mix into a separate container using 2-4 ounces of jojoba oil for this recipe:
  • 8 drops frankincense
  • 6 drops lavender
  • 4 drops tea tree
  • 8 drops copaiba
  • 4 drops ylang ylang (optional)

Gently mix together and use a few drops as needed.

*You can add more or fewer drops of essential oils to the bottle according to your preference.  You can use this same recipe and essential oil ratio for 2 ounces of jojoba oil up to 4 ounces of jojoba oil.

For makeup removal: apply 6 drops to your hand and massage onto face. Rinse face with warm water and wipe with a microfiber cloth

To wash face: apply 6 drops to your hand and massage onto damp face. Wipe off with a damp microfiber cloth. Follow with moisturizer- by applying a few drops after washing face.

Other ways I use jojoba oil:

  • as a carrier oil for my essential oil roller bottles
  • as a barrier to my skin when I shave my legs by applying several drops onto my hands and rubbing onto my legs before shaving.
  • as a skin moisturizer by applying a few drops onto my hands and massaging into my skin- specifically my face, neck, and chest.
  • to cleanse my scalp
  • for dry cuticles, or apply it to other dry areas by massaging a few drops onto dry spots.
