I hate waste.
I enjoy finding creative ways to repurpose or re-use items. Since I've been a Young Living member for over 5 years, I've accumulated quite a stash of empty essential oil bottles, and I hate to throw them out. So, I've started creating DIY recipes and projects using them.
Here's a small, portable yet effective bug spray that can be transported in your purse, car, or outdoor bag for on-the-go use.
Amazon, along with other essential oil product suppliers offer small sprayers that are specially designed to fit on top of 5ml and 15ml Essential oil bottles. They easily repurpose an empty bottle into a usable product!!!

Bug Spray Recipe using a 15ml Essential oil bottle:
In an empty 15 ml Essential oil bottle (I used an empty Citronella bottle)
Add:
10 Drops Citronella
10 Drops Lemongrass (or omit this oil and use 20 drops Citronella)
10 Drops Purification
10 Drops Lavender (or use Basil, Rosemary, or Cedarwood in place of Lavender)
Top with Witch Hazel until almost full. Add about 10 drops or 1/8 tsp of carrier oil such as jojoba or grapeseed. I personally prefer either of these two options: Leven Rose Jojoba oil or NOW Solutions Grapeseed oil 16 oz
~Twist on your sprayer top and give it a good shake before applying to your skin! (If you are planning on spraying this directly onto your close, then don't use carrier oil as it may leave greasy spots on your clothes)
**Use less drops of essential oil if you don't need it so potent- this is alot of drops of oil for a small bottle size but where I live, the biting insects are fierce, and I have found that I need the potency in order to be effective.

This is my preferred Grapeseed Oil that I use as a carrier oil for DIY products because it is inexpensive, light and not as greasy as other carrier oils, and absorbs quickly into the skin.
I also love using jojoba oil on my skin as a natural moisturizer, and it goes into some of my DIY projects:

Looking for an easier DIY using a brand new bottle of Citronella oil?
Using a brand new bottle of Citronella essential oil, remove 20 -30 drops from the bottle and top with Witch Hazel. Add the sprayer top and you are ready to use!
