Crispy Orange Glazed Chicken Recipe using Vitality oils

I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and creating new recipes using Young Living Vitality Oils!  I especially love Asian style meals, and making them at home is healthier, and budget-friendly.  I also have several food allergies, so I've had to learn how to substitute popular ingredients for allergy-friendly ones.  Tonight I made this recipe for the first time using Digize and Orange Vitality oils, and it was a WINNER!  I chose to use DiGize over Ginger Vitality simply because I didn't have any Ginger Vitality oil on hand, and chose to substitute using DiGize instead.  I feel this recipe would have a more authentic 'Asian' flavor if Ginger Vitality was used instead of DiGize.  Use what you have- it's ok to experiment!   I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Crispy Orange Glazed Chicken Recipe using Young Living's Vitality Essential Oils!

Ingredients:

  • A 2-pound package of boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut up in 1"-2" pieces,  Trim off excess fat.
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 2 tbsp canola oil (or vegetable oil but NOT olive oil)
  • 1 pound fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) string beans or broccoli

Flour mixture:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic

Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3-4 drops Orange Vitality oil
  • 2 drops Digize vitality from your PSK or 3 drops Ginger Vitality oil

Directions:

Step 1

A-Place rinsed, cut-up chicken pieces into a colander and allow the chicken to thoroughly dry.  Add a pinch of salt onto the chicken.

B- Mix together flour, baking powder, and 1 tsp garlic into a large mixing bowl and set aside.  I personally use the OXO Good Grips Mixing bowls.  I love them because they have the non-slip bottom and grippy handle- I use these for both cooking and baking! I've had my set for many years and OXO still makes the exact same ones that I bought.  Get them here: OXO Good Grips 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set

Step 2

A- Wisk egg and pour over chicken pieces (I set the colander in the sink).  Make sure each piece of chicken is coated in egg.  Wait 3-5 minutes to allow excess egg mixture to drip off.

B- During this step, heat 2 tbsp oil in large saute pan.  I use my Emeril 5-quart, deep saute pan for this recipe.  Get one here: Emeril 5-quart Deep Saute Pan with Lid

Step 3

Pour egg coated chicken in a bowl with flour/baking powder/garlic mixture and mix chicken until all pieces are completely coated in flour mixture.

Step 4

Pour chicken pieces into a heated pan (make sure oil is hot).  Do not stir.  Allow it to cook on medium-high heat for approx. 5 minutes or until chicken is golden brown and crispy on the bottom.

Step 5

While chicken is cooking, stir together in a 2 cup measuring cup the brown sugar,  honey, 1 tsp garlic, soy sauce, Digize or Ginger vitality, Orange vitality, water, and orange juice and set aside.

Step 6

Flip chicken over and cook for approx. 2 minutes.  At this point, pour in string beans (fresh, or frozen but they must be fully thawed and drained of excess water).

Step 7

Gently pour sauce mixture over chicken and string beans and put the lid onto saute pan. Reduce heat to medium and cook 5-7 minutes or until string beans are cooked to your preference.

Step 8

Remove the lid, increase heat to medium-high and allow some of the liquid to cook off for 2 minutes.

Enjoy over a bed of steamed brown rice or rice noodles.

For recipes like this, I use multiple colanders.  I have a stackable set that I LOVE because it stores easily without taking up a lot of space in my cabinets.  Get a similar one to what I use here:  Farberware 3 piece Stainless Steel Colander Set
