10 Tips to a successful Cleanse:

There are a lot of cleansing protocols out there in the world. Some require total fasting, some are simply healthy meal plans. It all depends on how deep you want to go with your cleanse.

I like an easy cleanse that I know I will stick with and not get too hungry or have bathroom issues that disrupt my daily plans. That cleanse is Young Living®'s  5-Day Nutritive Cleanse. It supports gut health, which will in turn boost the immune system, and elevate mood and energy levels. It also has been shown to help people kick food addictions like caffeine and sugar, jump start weight-loss plans, and give the body a good restart after the holidays or any medication use. It is good practice to do a cleanse 2-4 times a year for general maintenance.

10 Tips for success:

  1. Get your spouse to cleanse with you! It will keep you from having to cook and watch everyone eat, and having an accountability buddy will make it easier to stay on track.
  2. If you have low will power, get rid of all the leftovers and snacky foods so you are not tempted to stray.
  3. Print out the schedule and make a grocery list from it so you have everything you need ready to go for the week. Seeing all the food you get to have will keep you from worrying about being hungry and miserable, and having all the supplies you need will keep you from looking for unsuitable substitutes.
  4. Gather water recipes so you don’t get bored with your water. Find my favorites soon!
  5. Don’t let yourself get thirsty, or you will get a headache, and feel hungry more. Keep up with the water intake!
  6. If you do get a headache, drink more water, and use essential oils to power through. LemonVitality™  essential oil in your water to aid the detox, and Peppermint Vitality™ essential oil on the forehead to ease head pressure. Note: Young Living is the only brand of essential oil labeled for ingestion. It is the only brand I ever recommend for anything, but ESPECIALLY for ingestion.   7. Don’t let yourself get too hungry. To stay on top of your hunger, don’t limit yourself to a set time schedule of when to have your snacks and shakes. Listen to your body. Have the snack when your body is ready to have it. Then when you are hungry again, go make your shake. Then when you are hungry again, have your next snack. Then, when you are hungry again, have your next shake. This allows you to stretch your schedule out over a longer day without adding additional snacks or shakes.
  8. Try not to go to bed hungry, so you don’t wake up starving. It’s hard to catch back up with the meal plan portions when you let yourself get behind, and then you will be miserable hungry the rest of the time, and tempted to cheat. Just a handful of almonds and a glass of water before bed will make a world of difference.
  9. Don’t forget your Ningxia Red™. Ningxia Red™ is key for keeping up your energy levels and getting all of your nutritional needs met.
  10. If you are a caffeine drinker, taper off a day or two before you start your cleanse. You will have an easier time detoxing with less withdrawal symptoms. If you must ease a caffeine headache use a tube of NingXia Nitro™ or Steeped Vitality™ Vanilla Lemongrass tea for low-dose NATURAL caffeine from whole food sources.
