Cleansing Trio for Gut Health

Maybe you've already taken steps to clean up your lifestyle, ditching toxins in your home, taking good quality supplements, eating whole foods, but you've hit a plateau or you're just not seeing the results you had hoped for (like more energy, clear skin, happy hormones, etc). This could mean your body has reached a point where it can't progress any further until you clear the bowel.

We have 4 main pathways of elimination that work together to clear the garbage from our body. Garbage in the forms of foreign matter we ingest and absorb through our skin, metabolic waste that accumulates simply by the body using energy (think car exhaust). If any one of these pathways is congested it affects the rest of them.

Many people don’t make the GI connection to issues such as low energy, poor immune function, eczema, IBS, acne, hormone imbalance, constipation, diarrhea, rosacea, or even depression, but they are all directly related to gut health. 

When your pathways of elimination are congested your body can’t get rid of toxins that occur with normal metabolic function. This creates a chain reaction of dis-ease. 

The colon is the hub of health. No other organ can function well if the colon is congested. If you have a backed up colon, all those toxins sit there and leak through the intestinal lining of your gut creating issues like allergies and metabolic disorders, skin issues, and degenerative disease. 

Gary Young created 3 products that, when used together, gently and effectively cleanse the bowel while supporting healthy liver function. ComforTone™, ICP™, and Essentialzyme™.

Let's explore best practices for using them and how they work shall we? 

How they work:

ComforTone™ is gentle on the body. It has ingredients that scour the intestinal wall to loosen caked on garbage that restrict the colon's peristalsis. ComforTone's™ main function in this protocol is to stimulate peristalsis, the action of muscle movement that moves waste down the pipes, and makes it easier to eliminate. Unlike chemical stool softeners that weaken the muscle which causes dependence on the product with long term use, ComforTone™ actually strengthens and tones the muscle, training it to do the work on its own. It stimulates peristalsis with an irritating herb, but has a balance of other herbs and essential oils that sooth and heal.

ICP™ is full of fibers that loosen and expel undigested, fermenting material that block nutrient absorption and cause toxins to be re-absorbed into the body. These fibers act like a biochemical sponge absorbing toxins to minimize our exposure to them and help move them out of the body. ICP™ creates bulk that acts like a pipe cleaner, scrubbing the caked on goop of the intestinal walls and sweeping stagnant waste along its way. Fiber helps satiate the appetite an balances blood sugar as well.

Essentialzyme™ is the enzyme component. Enzymes break down foods so we can absorb and use the nutrients. When you take Essentialzyme™ with your meal, it will help break down the food that is eaten with it. When you take it between meals it will break down the leftovers your body is having a hard time breaking up. Over time, it will catch up enough to digest inflammation and the putrefied garbage on the intestinal wall. Inadequate enzyme activity has been linked to all sorts of degenerative conditions and chronic inflammatory diseases. Stress shuts down the secretion of enzymes. Sustained stress can cause constipation. Constipation is the #1 cause of appendicitis. 

Water is the fluid that cleans the pipes! It is high in minerals (unless you are drinking recycled municipal tap, in which case, opt for RO or spring water options), water helps with mineral absorption, and it is high in oxygen. Waste must bind to oxygen to be removed. When we have blockages in the colon (constipation) that shuts off blood flow (blood carries oxygen), which stops peristalsis. 

Best Practices for Use

1. Begin with 1 ComforTone™ in the morning. The 2nd day take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. The 3rd day take 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening, then 2 in the morning, 2 in the evening and so on. Keep building in this way until you find your comfortable limit (up to 10 in a day). Your goal is 2-3 bowel movements a day that are fast and easy to pass, well formed and float in the toilet. When you reach that goal, you don't need to add anymore capsules daily. Stay on that level until you pass the mucoid plaque. If you are having diarrhea, decrease your capsules until your bowels are firm again. If you are having constipation, drink more water, decrease capsules until your bowels are easy to pass, add magnesium, or oils like peppermint or DiGize, or see a chiropractor for an adjustment.

Along with ComforTone™ take Essentialzyme caplet 3 times daily, between meals.

Drink 3 quarts of water MINIMUM. 

2. When having 2-3 good bowel movements in a day begin taking ICP™, 1 teaspoon in the morning. Mix it with NingXia Red juice or the Red Drink recipe and drink it down quickly. Chase it with water to rinse the glass. I also enjoy it in my Power Shake. Add 1/2 tsp per day until you reach 1 Tablespoon (3tsp) in the morning and 1 Tbsp in the evening. Stay on ComforTone™ and Essentialzyme™. Keep drinking LOTS of water.

3. Continue colon cleansing until the mucoid plaque loosens and is eliminated. This could take 6 months to 2 years. I have never personally achieved this, but still saw incredible results with no more constipation, cramps, and bloat.

While on the cleanse you can eat a normal diet. Hopefully you have transitioned to a whole food diet though. A cleanse will help you transition to a healthier diet in general as the body gets rid of the garbage and starts calling for good nutrition. Pay attention to how the things you eat and drink make you feel. Avoid the things that bring you down. Focus on things that lift you up. 

If you find yourself feeling bloated, gassy, or crampy on this protocol, this is a good thing, as the rotting crust of your intestinal wall gets disturbed, but it is unpleasant nonetheless. You can back off on your supplements to a dose you were comfortable at. Or you can massage essential oils like DiGize™, AromaEase™, or peppermint on the abdomen following the track of the colon or on the bottoms of the feet. Putting the Vitality versions of these in a capsule with coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil is also wonderful. I suggest starting with 1-3 drops. 

Vitamin C and magnesium will also help move the bowels. It is a good idea to add these at night so they work while you sleep, allowing a good empty-out in the morning, and you won't find yourself trying to find a bathroom in the middle of your day. 

If you get a rash or something while cleansing, it is caused by liver congestion and the liver not being able to handle all the acidic toxins that are being pushed through, so it sends them out through inflammation in the skin. Add extra water, chelating greens like MultiGreens™, foods high in sulfur or Sulfurzyme™, and alkaline foods to help the body get rid of what it needs to.

Emotions Gone Wild 

Sometimes when we cleanse an organ or system our built-up toxic emotions that are attached to that organ or system end up releasing too. If you find yourself weirdly weepy, irritable, or whatever, reach for essential oils like Release to rub over the abdomen and liver. I like to consult my favorite reference Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Dr. Carolyn Mein to assist me with this. 

Colon cleansing is an ongoing thing. Once you have gotten your body caught up and cleaned out, maintain it with ICP Daily. It's a delicious way to get more fiber and water in your diet.
